Sean Dixon faces two consecutive life sentences in the June 1996 shooting death of his father, Terry.
Dixon also pleaded guilty to attempted murder in connection with an October 1997 stabbing of a fellow inmate at the Clark County Detention Center.
Sentencing was set for Aug. 18.
Terry Dixon was shot to death at his apartment. Sean Dixon told the judge he did not kill his father, but did not name the killers. Prosecutors said Dixon was not accused of being the actual killer.
Two other men - Lamar Alexander and Jeremy Kelly - are awaiting trial on related murder charges.
