NCAA All-American team includes 4 UNLV golfers

Juniors Jeremy Anderson and Michael Kirk, senior Chris Berry and freshman Adam Scott have all been named to the 1999 NCAA Division I Men's Golf All-American team, which was selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America and released Monday.
Anderson was selected to the first team, Kirk to the second team, while Berry and Scott were both named honorable mention. Scott played his way onto the team as the top 15 players at the NCAA Championships automatically were selected.
UNLV's four selections to the All-American team ties the Rebel mark for most in a year as the 1998 and 1996 squads each had four. Anderson, Kirk and Berry were all selected as All-District 8 members before being named All-Americans.
Anderson, UNLV's first first-team All-American since Chris Riley in 1994 and only the fifth first-team selection in program history, finished the year with a team-leading 72.38 scoring average and two individual titles in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate and Savane College All-America Golf Classic. He was also named WAC Player of the Year and was selected to play in his second Palmer Cup, which will take place June 12-13. Anderson was also a member of the 1998 All-American squad as he picked up second team honors.
Kirk finished the year with a stroke average of 72.77, which was second on the team. He was named to the All-WAC team and recorded his first career victory at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
Berry finished the season with a 74.31 stroke average and recorded his first career victory at the U.S. Collegiate Golf Championships. Berry was also a member of the 1998 All-American team as he was tabbed honorable mention.
Scott recorded a stroke average of 74.50 for the year and placed a team-best 11th at his first NCAA Championships last week.
