Letter: House organs waste of paper
Thursday, June 3, 1999 | 11:41 a.m.
The revelation about Dolly's early aging should be an omen for all government and other tax-supported quasi organizations on the perils of fooling around with a house organ, especially when it affects those paying the bill.
We have newspapers to inform us!
I wish the county's "Sandstone" would change to a plain sheet of sandpaper so we can use it to smooth the edges of our assessments. The UNLV catalog is useless, too! With so many kids failing the school system (or the system failing the kids) it's maybe time to bring the sweatshops home from abroad. I don't like exploitation of the labor force but too many people are not worth 35 cents an hour.
The latest throwaway is a large mass-mailing by the Regional Transportation Commission informing us about more staff getting involved in their own periodical house organ to keep us updated about the CAT.
I wish they would spend their energy going after County Commissars to make McCarran Airport up to par with other nations and stop treating our public bus system like a runt. A good start is informing the public with signs indicating that there is more than one way to get to their destination.
I am not against house organs but it all depends on who is paying the piper!
