Late spring storm dumps snow in Minden-Gardnerville

Thursday, June 3, 1999 | 1:40 a.m.

The heavy, wet snow caused leaf-laden trees and shrubs to sag under the weight, snapping limbs and causing power outages around town.

Fifty miles north in Reno, nary a flake of snow fell.

The National Weather Service said cool, unsettled weather was expected to remain in the forecast for the next couple days.

In the Sierra, predictions called for 1 to 3 inches above 6,500 feet.

Highs in the Reno-Carson City area were to remain below normal, reaching only into the upper 50s on Thursday followed by overnight lows in the 30s.
