Second victim of weekend car crash dies

James Wedemeyer died Tuesday at Washoe Medical Center from injuries he received in the Saturday crash that also killed his mother, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said.

Denise Wedemeyer, 29, of Portola, Calif., was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred on Red Rock Road north of Reno.

Sheriff's Deputy Scott Shields said a southbound pickup truck driven by Tina Snyder, 34, of Reno, crossed over a solid double line into the path of an oncoming minivan carrying the Wedemeyer family.

Two adults and four other children were injured in the collision.

No charges have been filed, but Shields said an investigation continued.

Authorities were awaiting results of blood tests to determine if alcohol was a factor, he said.
