Letter: Good teachers being turned away

Wednesday, June 2, 1999 | 12:12 p.m.

This proposal was forwarded by the Clark County School District and the University System Board of Regents. It wasn't even discussed at the meeting. Therefore, because it was an old issue that had to be dealt with, it was dropped and no more hearings will be held concerning it.

This school year I have fought against an unbending bureaucracy to bring badly needed educational reform to the certification process. I have made government officials aware of the frustrations and red tape encountered by out-of-state teachers trying to help end the teacher shortage of Nevada. But if the CPSE doesn't care about the quality of education and overcrowded classrooms then I'll find someplace else that needs a good teacher who cares about children.
