Fishing report — June 2, 1999

LAKE MEAD: The large crowd that converged on the lake for Memorial Day weekend enjoyed good fishing for largemouth bass and channel catfish but had poor luck fishing for striped bass.
Largemouth bass are being caught in coves with spinner baits while catfish are also in coves and are biting around sunrise and sunset.
Even anglers who normally catch stripers are being frustrated by a lack of success. Several boaters have reported that the fish are not holding after they are located with fish finders.
There has been some action for stripers in the Overton Arm for trollers who are fishing with Rattle Trap and Spot lures.
LAKE MOHAVE: Striped bass fishing continues to be slow and the fish that are being caught typically weigh no more than a pound. Largemouth bass fishing is fair with small fish being taken from brush with spinner baits and artificial worms.
WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Good action for largemouth bass and fair success for rainbow trout was found by the large crowd that was on hand for the Memorial Day weekend.
