23-year-old man missing in Truckee River
Wednesday, June 2, 1999 | 9:41 a.m.
Brian Przyabyla was last seen swimming in the river near Farad, Calif., about 7:30 p.m. Monday.
His brother Roger Przyablya injured his ankle and was taken to Washoe Medical Center. Two other juveniles who were swimming with them made it safely to shore but Brian Przyabyla did not.
The search continued most of Tuesday by boat and on the ground with as many as 18 rescue workers from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and Truckee Meadows Fire District.
They were searching the river and its culverts from Farad to Verdi, Nev., before the river conditions became too dangerous to continue, officials said.
It was not immediately known if the conditions would allow for the search to resume Wednesday in the 40-degree waters.
