Virginia Baird
Virginia Baird, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 49 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Robert McElvany Jr. of Oklahoma; three daughters, Susan Phillips of Las Vegas and Sondra Austin and Darlene Taylor, both of Oklahoma; one brother, Troy Jackson of California; one sister, Betty Cartier of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
Mary Bell
Mary Bell, 67, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Muskogee, Okla. A resident for nine years, she was a retired department store sales clerk.
She is survived by her husband, Robert O.; two daughters, Deborah Bell and Rebecca Warren, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Margaret Anderson of Burbank, Calif., and Helen Smith of Conway, Ark.; and one brother, Lee Marston of Miles City, Mont.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until noon services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
Reta Boatwright
Reta Boatwright, 68, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born June 2, 1930, in East Concord, Vt. A resident for 42 years, she was a retired Clark County School District food handler of 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin; two daughters, Carol Cote of Washington state and Debra Cote of Las Vegas; four sons, Lance Cote, John Cote and Paul Boatwright, all of Las Vegas, and Jim Cote of New York; four sisters, Marion Berry and Rebecca Davis, both of East Concord, Aldora Boutwell of Orange, Conn., and Joan Nicholas of Springhill, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6080 E. Owens Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Jackie Wade Bowles
Jackie Wade Bowles, 66, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Charlotte, N.C. A resident for 20 years, he was a furniture salesman and a Korean War and Vietnam War Army and Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Ravewan; two daughters, Linda Bolin of Woodlands, Texas, and Vickie Puckett of San Diego; three sons, Larry Elliott and Bryan Bowles, both of Sacramento, and Edward Bowles of Yuba City, Calif.; his mother, Pauline Bowles of Charlotte; one brother; one sister; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Samantha E. Johnson
Samantha E. Johnson, 67, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born March 30, 1932, in Remlap, Ala. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn M.; two daughters, Linda E. Tirban of Las Vegas and Gail Fuehrer of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Brandon Johnson and Martin Johnson, both of Mount Hood, Ore.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
The family suggests donations to the Lupus Foundation of America, Southern Nevada Chapter, P.O. Box 43141, Las Vegas, NV 89116-0141.
Richard F. Jost Jr.
Richard F. Jost Jr., 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Bayonne, N.J. A resident for four years, he was a retired insurance broker and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by three sons, Richard Jost III of Las Vegas, David Jost of Mount Holly, N.J., and Timothy Jost of New Hope, Pa.; one daughter, Barbara Meltz of Stanhope, N.J.; one brother, Robert Jost of Lake Suzy, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be in Mount Holly at a later date. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Mark John Painter
Mark John Painter, 43, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Ruislip, United Kingdom. A resident for 10 years, he was a mail carrier for the Postal Service and worked with Knipp Brothers in Las Vegas for five years, was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and Carpenters Local 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; one son, Alexander Keith, one daughter, Tayryn Couch, and his mother-in-law, Gladys Couch, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Debra Painter of Shelton, Wash., Pamela Morgan of Denver and Sandra Painter of Jenison, Mich.; and one grandchild.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.
The family suggests donations to the Nevada SPCA, 650 White Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89119, or any organization that prevents cruelty to animals.
Crystal Lynn Luisa Nomaaea Pan
Crystal Lynn Luisa Nomaaea Pan, 29, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born June 26, 1969, in Harbor City, Calif. A resident for three years, she was a certified nurse.
She is survived by her parents, Rosie and Willie Nomaaea, and three brothers, Veco Nomaaea, Willie Nomaaea III and Vaasoaia Nomaaea, all of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Joyce Nakapaahu of San Francisco and Rosie Nomaaea and Louisa Nomaaea, both of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the LDS chapel at Alta Drive and Jones Boulevard.
Rodney J. Potter
Rodney J. Potter, 51, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1947, in Upland, Calif. A resident for two years, he was a truck driver and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Gaye L.; one daughter, Renee Caudill of Reno; his parents, Frank and Maxine Potter of Grass Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, 3101 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89109.
Rita Jean Walter
Rita Jean Walter, 48, of New River, Ariz., died Thursday in Phoenix. She was born Aug. 31, 1950, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. A part-time resident of Henderson for 12 years, she was a communications sales representative.
She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Walter, and her parents, Duane and Genevieve Johnson, all of Henderson; two brothers, Douglas Johnson of Seal Beach, Calif., and Doyle Johnson of Fremont, Neb.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
