The 10th-grader is suspected of making an item look like a bomb and placing it in the girls' restroom at the high school on Friday.
Authorities cracked the case thanks to a call to the Secret Witness hotline, Acting Washoe County Schools Police Chief Walt Lyman said
The caller gave police enough information to follow through on the investigation and apprehend the suspect, he said.
Other students may have been involved and more arrests are possible, Lyman said.
The caller may be eligible for a part of a $500 reward for offering the tip.
The girl was being held Tuesday at Wittenberg Hall on charges of manufacturing a bomb, participating in a bomb hoax, making bomb threats and disturbance of the school.
