Former Navy offensive coordinator Ken Niumatalolo is expected to become UNLV's new tight ends and special teams coach today.
Niumatalolo, 34, will replace Jeff Kearin, who resigned last week to become the new head coach at Cal State Northridge.
UNLV head coach John Robinson spent Wednesday interviewing Niumatalolo and offered him the job.
"We've agreed in principle," Robinson said. "We just need to meet again (today) to work out some details."
Niumatalolo spent the last four years as an assistant coach at Navy, including the last two as offensive coordinator. He also coached and played at the University of Hawaii.
"He's 34 and has recruited a lot," Robinson said. "And I want to establish that Hawaiian recruiting connection."
