The UNLV women's basketball program has hired Ayanna Hines as director of basketball operations, head coach Regina Miller announced Tuesday. Hines will be primarily responsible for travel, scheduling and community outreach as it pertains to women's basketball at UNLV.
Hines comes to UNLV from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, where she was an events manager and was responsible for coordination and on-site management of the WBCA National Convention, the adidas/WBCA Coaches' Academy and the Nike/WBCA Coaching Clinics.
Before joining the WBCA staff, Hines spent a year at the St. Louis-based Missouri Valley Conference as a media relations assistant. Prior to that she was the sports information director at Emmanuel College in Boston one year (1994-95) and also had a two-year (1992-94) stint as a sports information intern at her alma mater, Howard University in Washington.
Hines has worked on a myriad of special events during her professional development, including the Olympic Woman exhibit show (1996), the Budweiser Gateway Football Classic (1995) and the Boston Parks and Recreation drug and gang prevention basketball program (1991-92).
