Tatupu declines UNLV job

Former USC and NFL star Mosi Tatupu turned down an offer to become tight end and special teams coach for his former college coach, John Robinson, on Tuesday.
Tatupu flew in Monday night from his New England home and spent Tuesday touring UNLV's facilities and meeting with Robinson.
"Mosi has a son who is in high school and a father who is ill," Robinson said. "He just didn't feel he could do it at this time."
Former Navy offensive coordinator Ken Niumatalolo flew to Las Vegas on Tuesday night and will meet today with Robinson about the opening, which was created last week when Rebels assistant Jeff Kearin departed to become head coach at Cal State Northridge.
"(Niumatalolo) got great recommendations from LaVell Edwards and Dick Tomey, so we're bringing him in," Robinson said.
Robinson would like to fill the position by next week in time for the start of fall practice.
