Letter: Ancient residents lurking in canyons?
Wednesday, July 28, 1999 | 9:40 a.m.
However, there is one paragraph that gave us quite a chuckle. It is in the fourth column on the first page and reads, "At Red Rock the BLM must protect the petroglyphs and pictographs from ancient residents hidden in steep canyons and protected by nature." We would dearly love to meet these ancient residents. Would you be able to direct us to the appropriate canyons?
Also, why in the world would these ancient residents want to destroy these petroglyphs?
This is all being written in jest, of course. The meaning is still there. Protect all these ancient things or they will all disappear, as so many have already been destroyed.
