CARSON CITY, Nev. - John Mendoza, chairman of the state Transportation Services Authority, announced Tuesday his retirement effective Aug. 1.
Mendoza served as a district court judge in Clark County for nearly 20 years before he was named chairman of the Public Services Commission. In 1997 he was named chairman of the transportation authority.
He said he intends to re-enter the field of law, focussing on arbitration and mediation.
"I want to personally thank Judge Mendoza for his service," Gov. Kenny Guinn said Tuesday. He said he intends to name a replacement by next week.
