Letter: Remind politicians they’re supposed to help little guy
Tuesday, July 27, 1999 | 9:57 a.m.
Of course we would have to own our own company or be members of Congress to get away with anything so outrageous.
You don't see any such increases in Social Security payments, and there certainly has been no action on the notch-baby issue. Couldn't the Senate or House of Representatives make a move to increase the minimum hourly wage by at least one dollar an hour?
After all, this kind of vote would help all the little guys. Of course if you have been a politician for some time, you have forgotten what it is like to be a little guy.
I sure hope the president's veto power can overturn this stupid pay increase. If I had run for political office, it would have been to represent the people and not myself and fellow so-called political representatives.
Our government is becoming less of the people and for the people. I think our forefathers would not appreciate what is left of the freedom of which they once dreamed.
God bless America. She is still the best country in the world, but if we the people don't stand up and be counted, government as we have know it will cease to exist.
For God and country.
