Embezzlement alleged in suit
Tuesday, July 27, 1999 | 10:47 a.m.
A Las Vegas mobile home company is accused in a lawsuit of embezzling funds entrusted to it by a local trust.
Harry Soileau filed the lawsuit against Sowle Enterprises on behalf of his trust. Sowle Enterprises operates as Finley Mobile Home Sales. The lawsuit also named as defendants six employees of Finley. In addition to compensatory damages, the lawsuit also demands more than $1 million in punitive damages.
Soileau claims his trust entered into an agreement with Finley to provide financing for mobile home sales. He claims the trust's money was invested in "nonexistent security interests," and that funds from the trust were drained without his knowledge. The trust asked for Finley to be placed in receivership.
In its response, Finley denied the trust's charges, and called the embezzlement "the acts of unknown third persons" unaffiliated with the company.
