Frank G. Akre
Frank G. Akre, 34, of Henderson died Saturday. He was born Sept. 15, 1964, in Euclid, Ohio. A resident for four years, he was an electrician and a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, one daughter, Brittany Akre, and one son, Zachery Akre, all of West Allis, Wis.; his mother and stepfather, Maria and Terry Boren of Rogers, Minn.; and his father and stepmother, Dave and Pam Stafford, and two brothers, Bill Stafford and Andrew Stafford, all of Pennsylvania.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
The family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2785 E. Desert Inn Road, Suite 140, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
John Bordonaro
John Bordonaro, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in New Kensington, Pa. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired Caesars Palace hotel-casino security officer and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty Rodriguez of San Francisco; one brother, Donald Bordonaro of Westlake, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119 or the donor's favorite charity.
Fulton Garrett Sr.
Fulton Garrett Sr., 84, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local health care center. He was born March 30, 1915, in Vicksburg, Miss. A resident for 48 years, he was a retired hotel-casino chef.
He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Shelton, Barbara Coleman and Patricia Garrett, and two sons, Fulton Garrett Jr. and Michael Garrett, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Margie Curry of Los Angeles; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grace Immanuel Baptist Church, 805 W. Bartlett Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
Keith Cameron Hampton
Keith Cameron Hampton, 42, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1956, in Paterson, N.J. A resident for five years, he was a salesman for California Shirt Sales in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Suzzy; three sons, Conan Coats, Duffy Coats and Ethan Coats; his father, Kerwin Cameron Hampton of Florida; his mother, Shirley Ann Neidig, and one sister, Stephanie Jean Hampton, both of Nevada; and four brothers, Kevin Christopher Hampton and Kip Cameron Hampton, both of Nevada and Kerry Cushman Hampton and Kristopher Cross Hampton, both of New Jersey.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.
Fredrick Hoffman
Fredrick Hoffman, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 17, 1919, in St. Louis. A resident for many years, he was a supervisor for Budweiser Brewing Co. in St. Louis.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in St. Louis. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
John 'Jack' T. Hughes
John "Jack" T. Hughes, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Iowa County, Wis. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired materials director for an automotive manufacturer and an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Genisa; four sons, John T. Hughes Jr. and David S. Hughes, both of Janesville, Wis., Kevin F. Hughes of Milwaukee and Gregory P. Hughes of Atlanta; six brothers, Bill Hughes of Darlington, Wis., Richard Hughes of Galena, Ill., Paul Hughes of Waunakee, Wis., Sam Hughes of Janesville, Jerry Hughes of Belvidere, Ill., and Dwayne Hughes of Evansville, Wis.; one sister, Jane Nelson of Blanchardville, Wis.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.
The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
Edward Pierce
Edward Pierce, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Connelsville, Pa. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired machinist for an aircraft factory.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; one son, William L. Pierce of Woodville, Ala.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.
Vernon P. Schmidt
Vernon P. Schmidt, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Milwaukee. A resident for three years, he retired as an engineer from General Electric Co. and was a Korean War Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; one daughter, Monya Frazer of Las Vegas; two sons, David Schmidt of Biddeford, Maine, and Daniel Schmidt of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Donald Schmidt of Largo, Fla.; one sister, Phyllis Locorino of Phoenix; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Guardian Angel Cathedral, 336 Cathedral Way.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Elwood 'Bud' Sleight
Elwood "Bud" Sleight, 71, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 4, 1928, in Duluth, Minn. A resident for seven years, he was a retired millwright in the automotive industry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Jean Maunu, Toni Bowen and Lori Gennette, all of California; three sons, William Sleight of Las Vegas, Dr. Robert Sleight of Washington state and Dr. Charles Sleight of California; three stepsons, Richard Papenguth and Robert Papenguth, both of Minnesota and Ronald Papenguth of California; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
