CHESTERTON, Ind. -- In the Championship Division, Northern Amateur defending champion and UNLV senior-to-be Michael Kirk left the field behind, grabbing a comfortable 10-stroke lead heading into Thursday's final round.
No one came close to Kirk. Firing his fourth consecutive sub-par round, Kirk finished the tournament at 17-under. Since coming to San Creek, the Northern has generally been won with a score at or near par.
Kirk will be playing additional tournaments this summer, including next week's Western Open, before heading back to UNLV for his senior year.
