Romeo E. 'Sandy' Bachand
Romeo E. "Sandy" Bachand, 61, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born Oct. 9, 1937, in Southbridge, Mass. A resident for 29 years, he was a owner-operator of Henderson Carburetor until 1996, a retired Air Force technical sergeant, a Vietnam War veteran and a scoutmaster in Henderson from 1980-1985.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one son, Dennis Bachand of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, William of South Yarmouth, Mass., and Edward of Raynham, Mass.; one sister, Joyce of Perry, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
The family suggests donations to the Family Home Hospice, P.O. Box 15645, Las Vegas, NV 89114-5645.
Ray L. Christensen
Ray L. Christensen, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born June 7, 1928, in Nevada. A lifelong resident, he was a supervisor for the Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; three sons, Ray L. Christensen III and Derek L. Christensen, both of Las Vegas, and Rodd Boyd Christensen of Scotland; one brother, Don Christensen, and two sisters, Shirley Rodriquez and Beverly Phillips, all of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until a 7 p.m. rosary today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. H St.
Robbie Ferguson
Robbie Ferguson, 81, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Tennessee. A resident for 10 months, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Campbell of Henderson and Bobbie Holley of Virginia; two sons, Lyndon Layne of Georgia and James Ferguson of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, James Lane, and one sister, Lillie Pyburn, both of Tennessee.
Burial will be in Tennessee. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.
Samuel Sanford Marlin
Samuel Sanford Marlin, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 21, 1916, in New York. A resident for 27 years, he was a campaign manager and an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by one son, Joseph Marlin; and three sisters, Frieda Miller, Flora Beckman and Sylvia Dolce.
Visitation will be noon until 2 p.m. services Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
David J. Ross
David J. Ross, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 21, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired security officer, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Moose Lodge in Las Vegas and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans in Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; and one brother, Lewis A. Ross of Clearwater, Fla.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday in All Saints Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave. Burial will be private. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to All Saints Episcopal Church Building Fund, 4201 W. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89107.
Grayce A. Tyson
Grayce A. Tyson, 63, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born April 18, 1936, in Santa Monica, Calif. A resident for three years, she was an office clerk at Fairway Chevrolet.
She is survived by four daughters, Deborah Baum of Laughlin, JoAnn Graves and Tonie Hartman, both of Las Vegas, and Nadine Hartman of Santa Ana, Calif.; one brother, Russ Held, and one sister, Marie Ketner, both of Reno; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Vinal M. Violette
Vinal M. Violette, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Maine. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was an iron worker.
He is survived by four sisters, Aline Grivois and Viola Pelletier, both of Maine, and Mae Morin and Rella Cyr, both of Connecticut.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
John F. Wickman
John F. Wickman, 94, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 12, 1905, in Fostoria, Ohio. A resident for eight months, he was a retired school district painter.
He is survived by one son, John C. Wickman of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Mabel Young
Mabel Young, 96, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 22, 1902, in Le Sueur, Minn. A resident for 64 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Star 18.
She is survived by one son, Ronald A. Young, and one daughter, Margie J. Hinton, both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling private arrangements.
The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
