Man wounded as SWAT raids house

A man taken into custody early this morning by Metro Police narcotics officers was wounded in the foot when police and SWAT team members entered a downtown house.
The SWAT team and narcotics officers entered a house in the 300 block of 11th Street around 4 a.m. to serve arrest warrants, according to Metro spokesman Steve Meriwether. While entering the house, the officers shot and killed two pit bull dogs, Meriwether said.
Three men in the house were taken into custody. Several hours later, while still at the house, one of the men told officers he had been shot in the foot, Meriwether said. The man had said nothing about his injury earlier, and showed no obvious signs that he had been wounded, Meriwether said.
Police are not sure if the man was shot in the foot directly or if a bullet aimed at one of the dogs ricocheted off something and hit him, Meriwether said. The man was taken to University Medical Center.
