Letter: Republicans silent on draft-dodging George W. Bush

Could it be because Republicans realize that they're about to move into a large glass house if they nominate George Walker Bush for president?
While many Americans made a good faith enlistment in the National Guard during the Vietnam War, others used power and influence to join the Guard and thus escape serving in Vietnam.
Dan Quayle did it by taking the only slot open to him in the Indiana National Guard and enlisting as an electrician. George, a 21-year-old about to graduate college, wrangled an appointment with the C.O. of the Texas Air National Guard (if he was plain old George Walker, would he have gotten in the door?). The C.O. then leapfrogged him over some 100 applicants so he could attend flight school.
It is denied that his father, then a member of the House of Representatives, had any influence in this process. Yeah, right!
Just think if we have another Republican Bush-Quayle ticket, we could have a double dose of draft dodgers.
