Nevada Power Co. has one of the highest residential customer satisfaction rates of any utility in the country, a new study found.
The study, conducted jointly by J.D. Power & Associates and Navigant Consulting Inc., gave Nevada Power an overall customer satisfaction score of 108, compared to an industry average of 100. That is the third-highest score in the West and fifth-highest in the nation.
Sierra Pacific Resources, Nevada Power's soon-to-be merger partner, scored a 102, slightly above average.
The survey asked customers about a variety of issues, including the utility's image, rates and value, power quality and reliability, billing and its call center.
The study is an important indicator of which utilities will be able to hold onto customers once deregulation takes effect, J.D. Power said. Nevada's electric market will open in March 2000.
