Soonie Peterson, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Waialua, Hawaii. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired administrative assistant for the Department of Transportation.
She is survived by her husband, Brian; two sons, Dale Peterson of Sidney, Ohio, and Gary Peterson of Sunrise, Fla.; four brothers, Charles Sun, Richard Sun, Robert Sun and John Sun; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was 2 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A private burial followed.
William Edward Ross Sr.
William Edward Ross Sr., 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Alabama. A resident for five years, he was an aircraft mechanic and an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by one son, William Edward Ross Jr. of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Stephna Nass of Glendora, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Taznia J. Stewart
Taznia J. Stewart, 1, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. She was born March 24, 1998, in Henderson.
She is survived by her parents, Kim and Lynette Stewart, two brothers, Tyler Stewart and Trace Stewart, three sisters, Tabitha Stewart, Tiffany Stewart and Tessa Stewart, and her grandmother, Mailyn Hallesy, all of Henderson.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 4:30 p.m. services Wednesday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Burial will be private.
Wenona Vanderhoofven
Wenona Vanderhoofven, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Texhoma, Okla. A resident for 54 years, she was a patient coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and served on its board. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies' Auxiliary and the Grand Madam Conductor in 1966 of the national auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon L. Daileda of Las Vegas; one son, Leonard Max Vanderhoofven of San Diego; three brothers, Merle Hass of Ridgecrest, Calif., Darrell Hass of Ventura, Calif., and Gary Hass of Springfield, Colo.; two sisters, Verline Jantzen of Springfield and Erma Lee Smith of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
