Letter: Storm brought out people’s good side

At 10 mph I finally reached Pecos and Flamingo roads. I thought then it would be clear sailing to Lawry's!
Was I wrong! At the corner, cars were stalled, and although I made it onto Flamingo, all the cars suddenly veered left near Desert Springs Hospital because a car on the right was stuck with waters swirling up to its windows. After a long wait I did what others did: I climbed over the divider and headed for home. Pecos had been rough with rivers of water and when cars went past me at a stop sign, my heavy car swayed and rocked as water cascaded over cement dividers.
But the thing that made the experience well worthwhile was I discovered again the great side of Las Vegas. People were so considerate in this emergency. They let people into their lane when needed many, many times.
Also, young strong men pushed car after car out of danger at intersections and around corners. Don't ever tell me again young people don't care about others. That day it showed!
It was so heartwarming. That is the spirit of Old Las Vegas as I remember it. I guess it still lives!
