Letter: U.N. contributes to population control
Wednesday, July 14, 1999 | 9:36 a.m.
This was a thoughtful commentary regarding manufacturers seeking tax breaks for sending virtually useless items as "aid" to Kosovo. Let's add to this the fact that the United Nation's major contribution was "population control" items such as birth control pills, "morning after" abortifacients and abortion equipment.
The U.N. wants to tie its "aid" to Central America in the wake of Hurricane Mitch to population control programs. The dean of medicine at the American University in Nicaragua, Dr. Rafael Cabrera, wrote to Dr. Nafis Sadik, who is the director of the U.N. Population Fund, "We don't want you to take advantage of our poverty by offering us money in exchange for the sterile wombs of our mothers and from the innocent blood of our unborn children."
Physicians in Third World countries are begging for antibiotics, insulin and other drugs to treat people who are ill. Instead their shelves are filled with U.N. "aid" which consists only of population control materials. It's heartbreaking to read of the children who are dying because of this. Our tax dollars support this abomination.
