Letter: Southern Nevada polio survivors have friend in SNAPS
Wednesday, July 14, 1999 | 9:34 a.m.
Many people think of polio as a disease of the past and, for the most part, it is. Unfortunately, for the people going through PPS (also known as the sequel), it is also a thing of today and tomorrow.
Although there is no cure for PPS, there is hope. There is a 2 1/2-year-old support group in the area called SNAPS (Southern Nevada Association of Polio Survivors).
SNAPS meetings take place once a month and feature guest speakers who discuss and demonstrate traditional and nontraditional types of treatment. The organization also plans and participates in affordable and accessible social activities. If any Sun readers would like more information on SNAPS, they can call 644-5091 or 458-1613.
