Institute to host homeowner classes

Community Associates Institute will hold two free seminars on homeowner associations for homeowners and association board members. "Preventive Maintenance" will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

"1999 Amendments to N.R.S. 116," will be from 6 to 9 p.m. July 28 at the Palace Station hotel-casino. It is approved for Nevada Real Estate credits. For reservations call Patty Randell at 648-8408.

Teens can attend trip to Magic Mountain

The city of Henderson is sponsoring a Six Flags Magic Mountain excursion for teens July 22. Buses will depart at 3 a.m. for the all-day event from the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., and at 3:30 a.m. from the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Teens may travel unescorted if registered by a parent or guardian. Cost is $65 and includes admission and round-trip transportation. For more information and registration, call 565-2880.

Host of programs made available

Clark County libraries are holding a variety of special programs. Call ahead to find out which programs require pre-registration.

Picture A Poet -- Teens can participate and create multimedia pieces through art and poetry in this program at 1 p.m. Thursday at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

Young adults in grades six and above can learn from Chef John Guinivere on Monday at 4 p.m. at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd., and at 7 p.m. at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. Call 256-2902.

Children and parents will get a chance to be on stage 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive in a series of improvs based on E.B. White's "Charlotte's Web." To pre-register, call 256-2902.

Kids Can Draw Too -- Ages 3-5 can experience the fun world of drawing with artist and expert Jane Marquez at 3 p.m. and ages 6 and older at 4 p.m. Monday. Stretch, Jump And Tumble -- Ages 3-5 can join Dean Olson as he teaches the basics of gymnastics and try out the springboard, vault, balance beam and donut at 10 a.m. July 21. A program for ages 6-8 is at 4 p.m. Both programs will be held at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Community Relations representatives talk to residents about neighborhood watch programs at 7 p.m. July 21 at the Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave.

Group to perform at community center

The Mexico Vivo Dance Company will present a performance entitled "Juegos Y Rondas" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Tickets are $7; $5 for seniors and children under 12. "Juegos Y Rondas" is a program based on children's chants, games and dances. For more information call 455-7340.

Volunteer education training offered

Nathan Adelson Hospice is offering an 18-hour Volunteer Education Training Course. The first session is Tuesday and continues through Aug. 5. The course will provide potential volunteers with the tools and resources needed to offer emotional and practical support to terminally ill hospice patients and their families.
