Letter: Writer explains his Serb-Iraqi reference

The difference is that NATO has not only not attacked retreating Iraqi troops (I think Gillen is referring to the bombing of Serb troops a couple of days prior to the cease-fire signing) since Milosevic capitulated, but has escorted and protected them in their "retreat" from Kosovo.
In my opinion anybody who could vote for both Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan cannot have core beliefs because the ideology and policies of these men couldn't have been more different! Personality, charisma and personal traits are no reasons on which to base one's vote, in my opinion. So Gillen's diatribe means absolutely nothing!
Letter writer Rodney K. Smith on the same day seems to be expressing a defensive feeling about Republicans being called "baby starvers" and "granny bashers" as if this is a false representation fueled by "bigotry." What hog wash! They are called these things because that happens to be the effect of their policies (if not the intent).
So when people like me call Republicans mean, cruel, uncaring and arrogant, we have plenty of reason for doing so!
