Letter: Most don’t care about flag issue

I am against altering the Constitution because I feel the flag is so seldom burned in public by some kook that it is of no consequence. Even if the Constitution is amended and laws are passed, there is certainly no guarantee that occasional burnings won't occur. Such an amendment might actually incite more burnings.
Our Nevada representatives in Washington appear to all be for the amendment. I assume they feel the majority of Nevadans are in agreement. Maybe so. But what really offends me is the drive down most any street on Flag Day, the Fourth of July and other holidays and see only a small percentage of homes displaying a flag.
My home is within view of at least 40 others and on this Fourth of July I saw only two flags in a two-block area, mine and one neighbor's.
My 4-year-old great-granddaughter comes to my house every holiday to help me display our flag. I wonder why so many citizens express their patriotism in words only.
