Letter: Electorate rates Clinton too highly
Friday, July 9, 1999 | 9:15 a.m.
He castigates "the news media, including the political pundit talking heads" for "falling all over themselves to legitimize this contradiction" of compassionate conservatism. The news media and these pundits, he claims, have "practically awarded (George W.) Bush the presidency on his name alone."
Mr. Olivier concludes his letter by saying, "I don't think the polls are reflecting a knowledge of this among the shallow personality-driven electorate at the present time!"
Now I'm confused. Can this "shallow personality-driven electorate" be the same electorate that, notwithstanding adultery, lies and impeachment predicated upon perjury and obstruction of justice, consistently has bestowed stratospheric approval ratings on President Clinton?
Say it ain't so, Dan.
