Agency plans small business seminars

The Department of Energy plans seminars Monday and Tuesday for small Las Vegas firms hoping to do business with the federal agency.

DOE plans a "Small Business Expo" Monday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at its support office at 232 Energy Way in North Las Vegas.

The expo will offer small businesses information on how to prepare proposals to become a DOE contractor, how to do business with DOE and how contracting firms can apply as Small Disadvantaged Businesses.

On Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the same location, DOE will offer information on how contracting firms can become "Small Disadvantaged Businesses."

The U.S. Small Business Administration defines Small Disadvantaged Businesses as those facing social or economic hardships such as being minority-owned.

Qualifying business have the opportunity to be considered for federal contracts even if they offer a bid up to 10 percent higher than the lowest bid.
