Deuces still not enough for Stars

SALT LAKE CITY -- Deuces are wild for the Las Vegas Stars these days.

Unfortunately, they keep popping up on the scoreboard and not in the casinos.

For the fourth straight game Mike Ramsey's squad was limited to just two runs during a 9-2 drubbing by the Salt Lake Buzz at Franklin Covey Field on Tuesday night.

The Stars (37-48), who have lost seven of their last eight games, have managed to push across an anemic 17 runs during that span.

Ex-Star Eddie Williams led the way for Salt Lake (41-40) with a long home run to left-center in the third inning that gave the Buzz a 3-1 lead and proved to be the game-winning run.

Catcher George Williams added a three-run homer to highlight a four-run Salt Lake eighth while former Basic High star Chris Latham had two hits and scored a run for the Buzz.

Leftfielder Chris Prieto had a solo home run and second baseman David Newhan added an RBI double to lead Las Vegas offensively.

The two teams conclude their four-game series tonight with right-hander Buddy Carlyle (7-4, 5.18 ERA) slated to start for the Stars against Salt Lake right-hander Rob Radlosky (4-1, 3.80).
