Public invited to meeting on Town Center

Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 | 12:13 p.m.

Residents unhappy with signs planned for a proposed Town Center commercial development will get a chance next week to meet with city officials and representatives of the developer.

City Councilman Larry Brown, who represents Ward 4, has scheduled a neighborhood meeting on the proposed Centennial Centre project for Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be in the Cimarron-Memorial High School Theatre, 2301 N. Tenaya Way, just north of Lake Mead Boulevard.

Brown will discuss the city's Town Center design standards with residents from 6 to 7 p.m. Representatives of developers Olympic Nevada Inc. and Centennial & Rancho Partners LLC will present their final plan from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The 827,000-square-foot center is planned for 158 acres bounded by Centennial Parkway and U.S. 95 -- where the northern leg of the Las Vegas Beltway will pass.

About 20 residents protested the planned development when it came before City Council for approval Jan. 25. Much of the protest concerns three 90-foot-high signs that have been requested.

City Council tabled the item until Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.

Residents who need more information on the neighborhood meeting should call Laurie Kruse in Brown's office at 229-6405.
