Letter: Tyson called a lunatic
Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 | 11:42 a.m.
Has anyone bothered to seriously question the ethics of the doctors and therapists who examined Tyson before his recent bout with Frans Botha and ask them why they approved his return to boxing, when he obviously is a sick, demented, violent, hateful, angry and lost soul, who deserves to be chained up instead of allowed to walk free in society?
Foul-mouthed Mike can only curse arrogantly at people when he is interviewed. Is that what we want our kids to hear? We are all watching his downward spiral into oblivion where he will lose all his money. No one will want anything to do with him, and someone will have to pay for his funeral expenses -- like Sinatra did for Joe Louis.
What have we learned? That boxers are used like tissues, and when it is all said and done, they are disposable. Tyson is a shadow of his former self. He is no hero or role model. Greedy Las Vegas promoters (and Don King) who capitalized on Tyson and made millions deserve what they get.
Why doesn't the MGM Grand just give him a job now as a greeter?
