SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
Jeff Horton is going to the University of Wisconsin after all.
The former UNLV head football coach, fired two months ago after the first winless season in school history, was to be introduced at a news conference today in Madison, Wis., as the new quarterbacks coach for the Badgers.
Horton, who had denied interest in the Wisconsin opening to the Sun last week, apparently had a change of heart. He will work under new offensive coordinator Brian White, one of his former UNLV assistants.
Horton had said last week that he was seriously thinking of accepting an offer to work as an administrator in UNLV's athletic department. He had until Feb. 1 to make that decision.
Ironically, UNLV's worst loss last season came at Camp Randall Stadium to the Badgers, 52-7.
Horton compiled a 13-43 record in five seasons as UNLV head coach. Other than one year as a graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota for Lou Holtz in 1984, all of his other previous college coaching experience has been in Nevada at either Nevada-Reno (assistant 1985-89, 1992 and head coach in 1993) or UNLV (assistant 1990-91, head coach 1993-98).
