Letter: Postal increase matter of greed
Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999 | 11:13 a.m.
I'm currently employed by the U.S. Postal Service, so I have an in-depth knowledge of this: Postal management (an oxymoron if I have ever heard of one) are collectively a group of pretentious, self-centered, power-driven, money-hungry men and women, most of whom probably cannot look at themselves in their mirrors, eyes meeting eyes, for any length of time.
The post office is managed solely by number-crunching so outlandish bonuses can be paid to the above-mentioned individuals. Service to the public is a secondary commodity.
The latest increase in the price of stamps is merely corporate greed at its most root form, period. We thought this was supposed to be a nonprofit agency, didn't we?
