LVMS hires key officials

Las Vegas Motor Speedway Vice President and General Manager Chris Powell filled three key positions.
Mike Yurick, 54, has been named director of events. He will be responsible for most event planning and execution. Yurick joins LVMS from Sears Point Raceway near San Francisco, where he served as director of operations for the past 11 years.
Martinsville, Va. native Jeff Motley, 30, has taken over as director of public relations. He most recently served as manager of communications for NASCAR, with focus on both the Busch Series and the Winston Cup Series. A 1990 graduate of Virginia Tech, he has more than 10 years experience in motor sports, as a journalist and a NASCAR official.
A native of Mission Viejo, Calif., Keri Wright has been appointed credentials manager. She comes to LVMS after serving in the same capacity with Talladega Superspeedway for the past six years.
"These are very big additions in three vital areas," Powell said. "I have known each person for many years, and am very happy to have them on board."
LVMS will host its second NASCAR Winston Cup Las Vegas 400 weekend March 5-7. The Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series will be Saturday, March 6, while the Las Vegas 400 Winston Cup is March 7.
