Apology goes out for inaugural ball invitation delay

Sig Rogich, honorary chairman of balls planned Jan. 29 at the Hilton in Reno and Jan. 30 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, said it was inevitable that some of Guinn's backers wouldn't get invitations since he had so many supporters.
The invitations were supposed to go to anyone who donated - even $1 - to the Guinn campaign, to the people who worked for him, his friends, supporters, people he met during the campaign and to other elected officials.
Rogich said he anticipates 4,000 to 5,000 people at each of the black-tie-optional events. So far, about 3,200 tickets have been sold.
One of entertainment acts will be the McGuire Sisters both in Las Vegas and Reno. When Guinn and his wife Dema were married 42 years ago, the sister act was appearing at the Riverside Hotel in Reno where they stayed.
Ticket sales should cover the cost of holding the events, and no profit is expected.
Anyone with questions on the balls can call 702-765-6054.
