Visitor volume up slightly for November

The visitor count for November was 2,556,856, compared to 2,513,975 for the same month the year before, a 1.7 percent change.

The visitor count for the first 11 months of 1998 was basically unchanged from 1997, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said. Through November, 28,158,990 people visited Las Vegas, compared to the 28,171,143 visitors in 1997.

The slight boost in visitor volume translated to a 7.3 percent increase in Clark County gambling revenues for November, with a 4.8 percent increase among Strip casinos.

Vehicle traffic from Southern California was up 7.4 percent for November, 451,850 people compared to 420,856 a year ago. The traffic count at the Yermo, Calif., inspection station was up 2.3 percent for the first 11 months of 1998, with 4,673,051 people compared to 4,567,808 for the same period in 1997.
