Jason McBain not only extended his point-scoring streak to five games, but came up with the critical shootout goal to give the Las Vegas Thunder a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Blades Wednesday in an International Hockey League game.
McBain's seventh-round goal gave the Thunder (10-25-8) a 3-2 edge in the tiebreaker, and only their second win in their last 11 games.
Goalie Petr Franek, who controlled the Blades' 43-shot attack with 40 saves in regulation, stopped five of seven shootout attempts.
Sean Berens got Las Vegas off to an early start, scoring the first of his two goals 1:15 after the opening faceoff.
Berens also scored in the first minute of the second period, to make the score 2-0, and Shawn Wansborough netted his third of the season at 4:25.
