Letter: Wynn will always trump Trump
Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999 | 10:40 a.m.
Simultaneously, Dunn extols that East Coast barbarian-Wynn wannabe Donald Trump. Dunn goes further in his reckless, rambunctious rhetoric, calling Trump's casinos "world-class" and Wynn's Bellagio a monstrosity. I say when Trump can afford a $300 million Monet, van Gogh, Picasso, etc., art collection maybe then he'll be in Wynn's league.
As Wynn has said regarding Trump, he's a lightweight. Trumpism is tackyism with his egotistical, vain obsession to put and see his name on everything. Wynn has "class," Trump doesn't. Further, I opine Dunn is bereft of common sense and displays inane, retrogressive reasoning. Basically, Trump is a has-been. Bellagio is the future.
Let's be honest and look at some facts.
-- Dunn is an East Coast person who lives in New York, Trump's home state. Therefore the sincerity of his anti-Wynn letter is suspect.
-- Wynn beat Trump on his casino home ground. New Jersey officials favored and voted for Wynn's gaming plans in Atlantic City over Trump's.
-- Dunn praises what Trump has done for Atlantic City, but if you leave the boardwalk casino area you have blight and chaos (for years past). Further Atlantic City has no Spanish Trail, Grand Canyon, Green Valley, Turnberry Place, etc.
-- Trump is continually in financial trouble (check with Wall Street and bankers his past years).
I respectfully suggest Dunn and others listen to the Wynn Weather Report which is: As long as there's Las Vegas, Donald Trump will always be second-rate.
