The accident involving two haul pack trucks happened just after noon on Sunday, according to Vince Borg, a spokesman in Barrick's Toronto office.
Borg said a loaded 30-ton haul truck backed into a space occupied by a 22-ton truck. The driver of the smaller truck was crushed.
The victim's name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
The accident occurred 1,500 feet below ground and is the first fatality at the underground mine, the company said.
