Thunder falls to Wolves on road

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Third-period goals by Chris Marinucci and Steve Maltais pushed the Chicago Wolves past the Las Vegas Thunder 4-2 Sunday in an International Hockey League game before 8,309 at the Rosemont Horizon.
The Wolves are 7-1-1 over their last nine home games, and lead the Central Division at 25-8-7 overall.
Maltais paced the Wolves' attack with an empty-net goal in the final minute, as well as assists on Marinucci's game-winner at 1:58 and a power play tally by Glenn Stewart in the second.
Stewart has four goals in his last two games.
Newcomer Dave Seitz, who joined the Wolves from the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, scored 17:31 into his first game.
The Thunder, mired in the Southwest Division cellar at 9-24-5, led briefly after a goal by Jason McBain 3:18 into the first period. Russ Romaniuk also scored, in the final minute of the second.
The Thunder challenged Wolves netminder Wendell Young with 35 shots, forcing 33 saves. The Chicago defense also killed five penalties. Petr Franek turned away 41 of the 44 shots he faced for Las Vegas.
