Three Station Casino resorts shared a gold medal at the Nevada Gourmet Olympics on Saturday, and one of those resorts garnered another two bronze medals for culinary entries.

Station Properties, which represents the Sunset Station, Texas Station and Boulder Station, won the display category gold medal Saturday during the event at Caesars Palace.

Sunset Station won bronze medals in the entree and pastry categories.

Longtime Sun Food editor Muriel Stevens also was honored for her contributions to the local and national culinary industry.

The organizers of the event called Stevens "the first lady of food in Nevada."

In addition to her 24 years with the newspaper, Stevens hosted the "Cookery and Conversation" radio shows on KDWN 720-AM and KLAV 1230-AM for 28 years and currently hosts "Showbiz Magazine of the Air" on KDWN.

Also, the establishment of the Muriel Stevens Scholarship Fund for Culinary Students at the William S. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at UNLV was announced. The first of the planned annual $5,000 Stevens scholarships is yet to be awarded.

Chefs from more than 30 Las Vegas hotels competed in the inaugural Gourmet Olympics. Rounding out the medal winners were:

Treasure Island, gold medal in the entree category.

Desert Inn, silver medal in the entree category.

Bellagio, gold medal in the pastry category.

MGM Grand, silver medal in the pastry category.

Caesars Palace, silver in the display category.

The event was sponsored by the Sun, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada.
