Letter: Natural beauty around valley needs protection

Americans care about protecting these precious places from pollution and sprawl for our children and for ourselves. In this time of budget surpluses, the Clinton administration should take the lead in funding programs to protect these special places. Many essential programs that protect wildlife habitat, parks, and forests have been short-funded for many years.

Join me in asking the decision makers in Washington for a gift to future generations -- urge them to fund efforts to protect our wild places before they disappear forever. Now is the time to put our money where our heart is -- in the wild and natural places all around us.
