Letter: A plea to Culinary to back off resort

The Venetian is unique in that all of its rooms are suites. Plus, its Sands Expo and Venetian Congress Center for conventions is the most elegant, with accommodations for every usage.
The genius of Venetian owner Sheldon Adelson will overcome any problem. In this regard it's hoped the Culinary Union will show Nevada loyalty to our main industry and cease its vitriolic campaign against the Venetian.
Venetian's energetic, astute president, William Weidner, has said the Venetian will offer workers wages equal to or higher than union scale and a flexible benefits program superior to the Culinary Union. Another great benefit for workers is this fact: They'll have about $400 a year extra by not being forced to pay union dues.
Nevada is a "right-to-work" state. Therefore, unionism cannot be forced on any business. Further, every business person has a God-given right, in keeping with the law, to employ the best qualified. This is the American way -- the Venetian way.
As Adelson recently indicated, as the featured guest on the "Nevada Week in Review" television program: There's a new paradigm in gaming, Nevada, service-entertainment for the public and concern-benefits for workers. This the Venetian exemplifies and leads the way.
As the Venetian grandly opens and we move into the glorious 21st century, let vitriolic rhetoric and divisiveness give way to friendship and unity. We're all Nevadans, the greatest people in the world!
