Letter: Show us the money first

Social Security recipients are receiving a raise of a little more than 1 percent. Many of these recipients are seniors living in homeowners associations and paying property taxes. Too many recent experiences have shown me that both the mayor and other City Council people have stated "funding" is not adequate for much needed items (i.e., light signals on Valley View Boulevard) so why would I and many others care to offer them raises?
In order for the troubled homeowners associations to get some help, owners had to pay for the recent appointment of the ombudsman in the Real Estate Division. I recently read that Assemblywoman Barbara Buckley is sponsoring a bill for an ombudsman to help with HMO problems. I would be most interested in knowing who Buckley is proposing would finance this ombudsman.
I have said for too long there are always funds when the high elected officials want something. How about allowing the voters to decide who gets how much, if any.
I wish someone would explain to me why there is never enough funding when there is such an increase in new Nevada residents helping to support the economy. Tell me please.
