The presentation will be made by the Council to Establish Academic Standards for Nevada's Public Schools at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The council plans to have a final draft of the performance standards to present to the state Board of Education in February.
With the standards in place, the final phase will be to develop a test for students to ensure they reach the benchmarks in the subjects.
The council had initially proposed that students be tested in grades three, five, eight and 12, but the plan was scaled back to grades three and five.
However, at a recent meeting, state legislators cast doubt over whether money would be available to develop the test for the two grades, citing an increasingly tight state budget.
