In its Jan. 1 issue, the magazine also opines that Elardi would demand a high price for selling the property to Mirage Resorts Inc., which has assembled 150 acres on the Las Vegas Strip around the Jockey Club, though it acknowledges that Mirage Chairman Steve Wynn has said he isn't interest in buying the parcel.
The article says Wynn and Elardi "don't care much for each other." Wynn, it asserts, "no doubt worries that the low-rent operation spoils the upscale image he cultivates."
As for Elardi, Forbes says," she "is still smarting because she heard that Wynn called her family the Beverly Hillbillies." The quote was attributed to a "close associate" of Elardi.
"I told the writer I'd never heard Steve Wynn say anything like that and it's unfortunate if she's taking that seriously," Mirage Resorts Vice President Alan Feldman said today.
Elardi couldn't be reached for comment.
The article didn't speculate on what any potential lessors would do with the land.
